Watertown, MA, April 29, 2010 - Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals Inc., a biopharmaceutical company developing novel antibiotics based on proprietary synthetic chemistry technology, today announced that it will be participating in a session on drug discovery and development of novel treatments for drug-resistant infections, taking place at the 2010 BIO International Convention in Chicago.

On Wednesday, May 5 at 8:00 a.m., Joyce Sutcliffe, Ph.D., senior vice president, Biology at Tetraphase Pharmaceuticals, will be making a presentation during a Session entitled "Where Are the Drugs to Stop Bad Bugs?" in Room S401-AB at the McCormick Place convention center.

Dr. Sutcliffe will be among speakers who will discuss new drugs in development to combat drug-resistant infections, many of which are fatal and continue to grow in number and severity. The session will focus on novel approaches to creating important new and powerful antibacterial agents, including Tetraphase’s development pipeline, to address the growing unmet medical need, of serious infections caused by drug-resistant gram-negative bacterial pathogens, where there are few existing treatment options.
